what a beautiful day!

so the day that i have planned for the past few weeks finally came to pass - what a beautiful day it was.....more so because it was shared with 40 beautiful people very close to our heart..... Our 10th year marriage anniversary was according to our wish - I must admit, planning it drained me a little especially considering my 5month foetus growing inside me ....  but when the day finally came - somehow i pulled through - now i understand when the bible says that a glad heart is makes the bones strong - when you are happy, even sickness runs away from you !!!  I felt strong, fresh and vibrant - a feeling that I have missed. 

So we asked all ladies attending to wear red dresses, gents to wear black shirts and denim blue jeans - it gave this look:  Man with a rough edge accompanied by a beautiful classy woman ! Just the way most of us like it right?  I dont know about most of you but i really prefer that a little Rugged look on my man opposed to a sleek all matchy matchy dressing - as long as they smell good and are well-shaven - i dont mind the masculine look thats a little rough !

Kids were not invited except of-course our 2 little ones - the boy (8) wore same colours as the men, and little Miss angel (4) wore a beautiful red princess dress - they looked simply cute....

SO I thought of all different colours that would break nicely into all these colours - wearing red was not an option because I had to look outstanding, any other colour would probably have clushed badly with the reds so the best colour for me was white - oh that dress looked good on me and my protruding belly - it was not a snow - white but winter white dress - i wont say much about it - will post a few pics when i have them ready -
Our beautiful cake was white with Silver hearts scattered all over and a bit of red to pick on the theme - .... The table linen was a beautiful black and white zebra print and white runners - i added a long row of little red candles on the table - oh the set up was a looong T table where everyone was sitting side to side and opposite each other. Me, hubby and the kids were sitting on the T-end so we could be in everyone's view...

I had guys from my Dress For Success show just outside the entrance - interviewing the guests - you know like they do at the "Oscars" Mmm - that made some people feel special !

The food was just as great - it was especially for meat lovers "carnivores"  We ate all types of game, from zebras to impalas to crocodiles etc.....different types of salads and great desserts ! 

The Speech my husband gave made me want to cry , but i didnt because i dont like runny mascara "hehehe" - i did pretty well delivering mine too **blush!

Anyway, in a nutshell - everything went perfectly well and as always I always give THE GLORY TO GOD ALMIGHTY !

i am preggy!

so i have been battling nausea, tiredness and all the other really crappy sensations that almost all pregnant women go through for the 1st 3months....i am now 4months and a week and though i still get the ugly feeling its much better than before.....

I have still managed to design a few dresses and skirts and i so far my clients are happy.....I am shooting again today and I am still busy preparing for my upcoming anniversary so yeah my basket is quite full - i am not that active on here but i will put a lot of effort to keep everyone updated as well as load a few pics....loves you all!

10years of Goodness!!!

I mentioned earlier how blessed I am to be reaching 10years in my marriage....its true that it gets better.....I will keep you updated of the ideas I have for my anniversary dinner but for now - a quick glimpse of the man who comes second to God......my master, my better half and all that mncwa darlin.......and the two cute nookies we have been blessed with thus far....

Summer "heats" africa - excuse the Pan

hi all....so we are out of the miserable winter - our September spring was not typical - actually some days were much colder than the winter days - October brings with it the heat that we are used to herein SA - so we bring out our light clothing - exactly what I need.  So I havent really been doing that great (for a reason still yet to be revealed though am sure some of you have guessed by now :-)) but soon enough I will be starting on my ITai Collection - I love the classic look and a bit of retro so these will be incoorporated - my idea is to have a few items by the end of this year and start showcasing ...

I think I got married quite early now that I look at it - I cannot believe that in November me and hubby will be 10years into it and though it has become almost a "cliche" I will still say it - we are truly really still very happy - but without the Lord we wouldnt be.  Please drop an idea or two on how to make our dinner party special....we will probably have a private room at a big restaurant to entertain about 40 guests... God is great....Lots of Love - keep your head high.....

Pics from our shoot this week were focused - coincidentally - on a lady who was looking for a decent outfit for an Engangement Dinner outfit...our stylist put her in seperates - gorgeous colours and really really very decent - see her before and after looks below......

 Our guest stylist for the night was Bongie....fun girl, bubbly and cute... i should keep quiet sometimes...

Dress for Success - Springy look

hiya ! i am sooo tired - gotta hold it together though.....the weather is brilliant outside, its just me.  Yesterday we had a great shoot.  No delays. Beautiful girls.  Our stylist - Helene - gorgeous young lady - good head on her shoulders - knows her fashion quite well and transformed our Model who was lookin for a decent spring outfit for an outing with friends - her name is Rose: very nice girl - down to earth - a bit nervous to be in front of the camera but she pulled through - Love my crew :  Peter (the Director) have our birthdays just a few days apart - so we are both a year older as of last week..... Praise(Sound Engineer) is too sweet....always coming up with something silly to say - then there is Max (Director assistant)...am sure all the young girls wish he would ask them out - he cute!....and has a kind heart......Oh yes, the make-up you see here is by dear Thobile ( she makes me laugh all the time)...never gets angry and always peaceful and loving - her make up is great - always:  i will soon post a pic of my Crew so you know who is behind "Dress for Success) - enough said - pics from yesterdays's shoot ::

i am so happy with my blue maxi skirt....loving the lenght and loving the fit...... i love the red accessory on my waiste-line...i could even wear this with a proper white shirt and look retro-elegant !

its my birthday

hey all, so its been quiet around this blog but hey, a girl has other chores right!?  Anyway, jus dropped by to say its my birthday today and no i wont say how old i am - jus know that i am happy and feel blessed.......my little sis is quite the fashionista - have a look at wat she got me for my birthday - yes i plan to have a big slice of cake today yes yes yes,.....................

I have quite a few dresses that i have made, i will capture them for your eyes only......... ! mncwa

Also jus to mention for your interest' sake - yesterday was my gorgeous son's 8th birthday - he is such a sweet.  He got more gifts than i did - but ultimately that means i got the greatest gift - seeing him happy & joyful !

shoot season begins ! starts with Vintage

hellow all..... today 5th september.....so i am a bit mad at the whether because all my warm clothes were packed away and now i have to go climb a ladder just to get them again - its cold !! aghh man - september is my birthday month and its supposed to be warm and bright - like me heheh.
Yesterday was yet another successful shoot - lovely Millicent - owner of SPUNK designs graced us with her fabulousness and dressed our girl who was in desperate need of a young and fresh look.  Pity i didnt snap some pics from her before look cause i swear you would have agreed with me that she looked 10years older than 20 - but on the pic here after SPUNK's magical touch - she really does look 20 - well maybe 22 hehe...she better not read this. so last night i was excited to be shooting - but for a reason I will reveal later...i was extremely tired and couldnt wait for the shoot to just finish.  The boyz behind the cameras did well with time and i reminded myself to be controlled and to not scream and shout the whole shoot through.....i am trying to conquor the urge to get things done my way and as fast as i prefer.....lol.  Mmm, i think i did my best yesterday.

Anyway - my comment on the main event is that we did manage to dress up the girl who loves vintage to look more vintage.....it was a simple transformation but i think the colours worked great - i loved the bag....she looked like a blust from the past for sure - she also quite pretty...

Thanks to our stylist....nthabi....who goes around collecting vintage and has hundreds of these pieces in her house - she helped us with the our guest - here are the pics !

Hi blog family ! so the past week has been a week of gettting used to my very short hair !  i am loving it so.....quite interesting are the comments from people - they love it but they still ask you ....."but why did you cut your long hair"   Well, i dont for a moment believe that long relaxed hair defines "woman"  Especially as a black girl, i actually really love wearing my hair short and natural.....Now am hoping it will grow into a nice afro!

Anyway, this past week i have also made a beautiful polka dotted dress for a "client"  Am loving polka dots - i will post the pic in the new week when its done & dusted......The trend seems to be the bold stripes and polka dots (especially a mix of different size dots...) you will see what I mean on the pic i will send.....

I also am falling in love with Retro - loving the brooch - look at my pic above - me spotting one by Rags2Lace.tumblr.com  -  !  i love the difference it makes - if you are not big on bold colour outfits - you can wear the safe color dresses, jackets, blousers and just add a very great colour brooch - it makes a million yards difference !  God bless you 'll and keep visiting

the weekend's success

flu.......terrible,....but am glad the weekend was a success... i designed my dress and wore it well at one of the events

busy weekend !

hi - been a while - had a busy weekend attending 3 events - 2 was work, one was a function - pics to follow and exciting designs by me - remember to always Dress for Successssss !!

- the cream dress with roses is great for special functions.....I designed it yes.....
- The stripe dress is perfect for day events - you can call me for that one ! designed and put together by me... will be great in black and white as well.....
- red/black stripes paired with gold accessories is a perfect look.....i dont like looking safe so i jus added a blue shoe jus to break the "silence" i think it works.

i think dresses bring out the "Femininity" in us so i will stick to them especially for special events.  Dresses dont have to look complicated - simple, body hugging, colourful dresses can make you look exactly the way you want to look - all you need is to accessorize properly.......just check the lady wearing black on 3rd pic from above - Boity - one of the most beautiful girls in town - voted for Sexiest sometime last year i think....she's rocking a simple black dress but with such beautiful golden accessory - which makes all the difference.

I love the little golden crowns on the "ladies" with me on the 3rd from below pic - it jus spells "cute" - not cheesy at all ! it works (for functions only ladies please) Do not rock at a dinner date with a little crown ! its a no no.....

the casual pic right at the bottom is just a simple pic of me with a little black flower - i think it takes away  the boredom in the hair - it just makes you look nice and fresh !  well enjoy this hair only on this pic because tomorrow (4th Aug) is the day when all the chemicalized hair goes - you will spot me in the natural ! cant wait.....lets talk again soon

thank goodness text has no voice because you wouldnt like how i sound now.  I am down with the flu...attacking mainly my throat.  Started on Friday with a headache, then muscle ache then throat was totally cracked....and whats worse....i was eargerly waiting for a friend coming in from England with her fiance...a friend that I had not seen for 12 years....how was i going to scream and express my joy of seeing her.....well the weekend came (in the midst of the sickness and illness, I did go to the shop and bought me the most beautiful sewing machine)  Yes I did it....pictures to follow.  I am over the moon right now and all I have to do is find a fabric shop that has the most amazing materials and I am good to go.

Ok so Sunday evening came and my husband was just watching me agitated - checking the time because i couldnt wait to see my dear Sue.........if that moment could have been captured....the first time after 12  years, no voice, but still screaming, tears rolling, just couldnt let go of each other . and the funny part of it all - our dear sweet husband & fiance were now just standing there, no one to introduce them to one another but pretty quick they figured they were the men in the "crazy girls" lives - we love them.... yes we slept at 2am - a lot of catching up - voice got worse and now its totally gone - everyone in the office feeling sorry for me but what they dont understand is my heart is Merry !!!

Its coming together

"Yawn" am in the office - half asleep.  Went to bed at 12midnight last night.  My body not coping well but hey the excitement of seeing the finished product keeps you going - yes it has its consequences but I guess all hard work pays off at some point right?  Ok - so below is a very concerning version of my half done dress - i am soooo pround of me. 

Tip:  always get some help when you are cutting, measuring, etc - and always have someone by your side - they will always says something worth considering.......dont be selfish  (thanks to my mum for a bit of direction to this point)

my first ball gown

So today my mission at lunch time is to buy material to make my first ball gown dress! whoop.  I am very worried but there is a burning passion inside me - i have no sewing machine yet but if this one is a success - i will be owning one soon.

So I think I have truly discovered my passion and that is : Fashion Design - Garment Construction....My job as a TV presenter causes me to interview many stylists.  The show helps ladies and man who are struggling to find the perfect outfit to wear to their functions and events.  My job is to find a stylist who then visits different shops to try and get the perfect outfit......and yes we get the perfect outfit......

Sometimes though, the outfits miss important detail.....and all the time I find myself wondering how this can be helped.....then my mind just took me back to my modelling days when I used to design all my outfits for the pageants!! wow - why did my mother not see this?? 

Anyway, its never too late - as I say - today i buy my first material to make my own ballgown dress for a friend's anniversary....wathc the space - i will post a pic....

Just so you know I am taking this seriously and you dont get surprised when my line walks down the Paris Fashion Week ramp -- School starts in June - basic sewing - collars, button holes, zips etc.....CANT WAIT....

So first step done ! am so proud of myself...i know pink and blue goes well together especially with the trendy color blocking thats going on lately.  I will work on this tonight and I cant wait to show you my first ever............ball gown !!

You know how you know that God implants a passion in each one of us and our job is to simply find what it is.......
Well, i am in my early 30s now and i think only NOW i realise that all along i have just simply ignored my passion........
Even with little hints here, signs there ...i simply couldnt realise it.....
I feel a bit pissed that i only realised it now........BUT its never too late....p
